| Description |
Mobile Applications & Social Networking Mobile communications devices and applications are primarily designed to increase efficiency and productivity for professionals on the go. However in recent years, mobile subscribers have expanded the utility of such technology to meet their social needs as well. For many people, particularly younger users, iPhone, Android, BlackBerry devices, and other handhelds primarily have a social function. As witnessed by the MySpace, Facebook, and Twitter explosion, many more companies have exploited the growing demand for social-mobile applications. Over the next 12-18 months, mobile investment is expected to increase, while investment in social applications is expected to remain flat. Does this mean social apps are losing their appeal? Also, recent reports indicate that Apple was responsible for 99.4% of all mobile app sales in 2009. Is there room for anyone else? This panel will explain why some predict that mobile app revenue will hit $25 billion by 2014 as well as the key drivers behind such growth. |
